⚠️ Important: Check Your Lava Lamp Before Ordering

Your shipping country does not necessarily determine which bulb your lava lamp needs. Some customers in the United States own lamps originally purchased in the UK or Europe. These lamps may require a 220–240V bulb even when the owner lives in the US.

  • Where your lava lamp was originally purchased or manufactured.
  • The bulb base, voltage and wattage printed on the original bulb or lamp rating label.
  • Whether your lamp has been modified or rewired.
  • If you use a voltage transformer, its output voltage and whether it is suitable for your lamp.

Do not choose a bulb based on its appearance or your current location alone. The bulb fitting, voltage and wattage must all be compatible with your lamp.

Choose the Correct Replacement Bulb

This product is available in different specifications for compatible lava lamps. Check your original bulb or the lamp's rating label and select the matching model. If your lamp's specifications are unclear, please contact us before ordering rather than guessing.

  • US-specification model: E17 base, R39 reflector, 30W, 120V.
  • UK-specification model: E14 base, R39 reflector, 30W, 230V.

These specifications are not interchangeable. A 120V bulb must not be connected to a 220–240V supply, and a 230V bulb must not be connected directly to a 120V supply. A voltage transformer may be required for some imported lamps, depending on the lamp's original electrical specifications.

When Should You Replace Your Lava Lamp Bulb?

A replacement bulb may be worth checking if:

  • The original bulb has burned out.
  • Your lava lamp no longer lights up.
  • The wax takes much longer than usual to warm up.
  • The wax does not flow as expected after the lamp has had sufficient time to warm up.

A failed or incorrect bulb can affect the lamp's performance, but it is not the only possible cause. Room temperature, warm-up time, the lamp's condition and other electrical or mechanical issues can also affect operation. Replacing the bulb cannot guarantee that a lamp with another fault will work again.

Compatibility and Safety

Traditional lava lamps use heat to warm the wax. LED bulbs generally do not provide the same heating performance and should not be used unless the lamp manufacturer specifically approves them.

Before replacing the bulb, switch off and unplug the lamp and allow it to cool completely. Follow the lamp manufacturer's instructions when installing a replacement.

If your lamp was originally designed for a different electrical supply, do not connect it directly to your local mains supply unless the lamp is rated for that voltage. Check the lamp's rating label and use only a suitable transformer where required. If you are unsure about the electrical setup, consult a qualified electrician or the original lamp manufacturer.

A: If your lamp arrives damaged or defective, please contact us at support@lumiosastore.com within 48 hours of delivery, with photos of the item and its packaging. Our team will review the issue and help arrange an appropriate solution, such as a replacement or refund. If you purchased Shipping Protection, eligible shipping damage or loss may also be covered under its terms.
